Tanfield is one of only four aerial lift manufacturers that have a truly global presence in terms of production, sales and service. The company manufactures the Snorkel range of electric and diesel-powered aerial lifts, offering working heights from 4m to 40m (12ft to 120ft). Snorkel has production facilities in North America, the UK, New Zealand and a joint venture in China.

Snorkel has established comprehensive sales coverage through a worldwide distribution network. In every market for aerial work platforms, Tanfield has a partner providing responsive, local product support, in the customer's own language. Each distributor has such widespread and strong connections within its territory that it is able to reach smaller end users as well as equipment rental companies.

Through the Pop-Up brand, Tanfield is leading the emerging market for low-level access - lightweight, compact lifts that replace ladders and steps for interior work. Pop-Up is the market-leading brand and offers the widest range of low-level access equipment. Tanfield's Powered Access Division is supported by the company's Engineering resource, which also provides sub-assemblies and other solutions for clients in the construction equipment, defence and rail sectors.

Zero Emission Vehicles

On 1 January 2011, Tanfield sold its Zero Emission Vehicles Division to Smith Electric Vehicles US Corp. Smith Electric is the world's largest manufacturer of commercial electric vehicles, designed for closed urban operations where the electric vehicle outperforms its diesel equivalent. Tanfield retains a 27.22% equity holding in Smith Electric Vehicles US Corp.
