Ford
Tanfield is the official collaborator with Ford of Europe to develop and produce commercial electric vehicles. The Smith Edison van uses the Ford Transit chassis.

Smith Electric Vehicles US Corporation (SEV US Corp)
SEV US Corp is Tanfield's associate company in North America. SEV US Corp produces and sells commercial electric vehicles in North America under licence from Tanfield and pays Tanfield a per-vehicle royalty fee. SEV US Corp is a Delaware Corporation with production facilities in Kansas City. It is 51% owned by private investors; Tanfield owns the remaining 49%.

Manganese Bronze Holdings plc
Tanfield has a joint venture with Manganese Bronze Holdings plc, the world's largest manufacturer of the iconic London black cab, to explore the development of battery-electric taxis. The first fruit of this agreement will be the TX4E, a pure electric version of LTI's TX4 taxi cab.

Technology Strategy Board Consortium

Tanfield is part of a consortium led by regional development agency, One NorthEast, to build and demonstrate electric passenger vehicles in North East England. The project is part funded by the UK Government's Technology Strategy Board, with match funding provided by the consortium. Tanfield's participation includes the deployment and real-world evaluation of 10 electric taxi cabs, five electric people carriers and one electric minibus.
